Baku – APA. The Triathlon competition at the Baku-2015 first-ever European Games has today come to a close.
Male athletes competed at the Bilgah Beach, according to apasport.az.
A total of 58 triathletes competed in swimming, bicycling and running. British triathlete Gordon Benson reached the finish in one hour and 48 minutes and 31 seconds to win the gold medal.
João Silva from Portugal fell behind by 11 seconds to take the second place.
Azerbaijani Rostislav Pevtsov won the bronze medal, reaching the finish in one hour and 49 minutes and 4 seconds.
Another Azerbaijani triathlete Alexander Yatchenko did not reach the finish.
Note that, the medal won by Pevtsov is the eight on Azerbaijan’s balance at the European Games. Apart from this, our national team has three gold medals, one silver and three bronze.
