"Last year, there was a mutual trade turnover of $8 billion," Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat told  APA's correspondent dispatched to Gabala.

The Turkish minister said that Azerbaijan's share in the total trade turnover was relatively large: "Azerbaijan is the second country with the largest trade turnover among our Turkic states after Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan is the country where Turks have invested the most in the world. More than 6,000 Turkish companies have invested nearly $17 billion in Azerbaijan. Our companies are active in the production, processing, trade, and service sectors in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is also an important country for us in the construction sector. More than 600 projects have been completed so far."

Ömer Bolat noted that Azerbaijan also has significant investments in Türkiye: "SOCAR is the most important participant in the petrochemical sector in Türkiye. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, TANAP, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway are important projects connecting both countries. With the completion and commissioning of the Zangezur corridor, large trade corridors starting from Türkiye to the East, and starting from the East to European countries via Azerbaijan and Türkiye, will be completed and put into operation. In other words, Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are developing very successfully in political, cultural, economic, financial, energy, and other areas. The leaders of the two countries have set a trade target of $15 billion. We, private companies, are working towards the goals set for Azerbaijan and Türkiye to become even stronger together in the economic field."
