Azerbaijan is among world leaders in software piracy

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA-Economics. In terms of software piracy rate, Azerbaijan is the third after Armenia and Bangladesh among 129 countries around the world, said Teymur Akhundov, Director General of Microsoft-Azerbaijan.
“I think that this situation does not comply with international image, economic development and IT investment policies of the Government. This is our common problem. It is necessary to address this,†he added.
Akhundov said that the matter is being discussed with the Government of Azerbaijan and several documents will be signed with Microsoft.
“Microsoft can not and should not fight against the software piracy alone. This issue is within the power of the government. In this regard, we are discussing the protection of intellectual property with the Government of Azerbaijan,†he added.
