AIC invites entrepreneurs to the Guba Investment Conference

Baku. Nicat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Private Sector Competitiveness Project, will hold the “Guba Investment Conference” on December 11, 2008, at 10:00, at the Barda Spa Center in the Guba district of Azerbaijan. All regional business community members, business service and input providers, and media representatives are invited to attend the one-day conference.
At the conference, AIC and USAID implementing partner Chemonics International will address AIC activities and projects, cooperative opportunities, and the recently launched USAID Private Sector Competitiveness Enhancement Program (PSCEP).
AIC is a state-owned joint stock company established in March 2006 by Azerbaijan President Aliyev, with an initial capitalization of 90 million Azerbaijani mantas. The main purpose of AIC is to promote local and foreign direct investment and portfolio co-financing, within the non-oil economic sectors of Azerbaijan.
The USAID PSCEP, with support from the Government of Azerbaijan, will improve private sector competitiveness in six key sectors and eight subsectors of the economy. Potential sectors under consideration include: Fruit and Vegetables, Animal Products, Information Communication Technology, Light Manufacturing, and Packaging.
