Kemaleddin Heydarov: â€œA program is being elaborated for the prevention of floods in Kur and Araz riversâ€ â€“ <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION </font>

Minister said that according to the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, AZN 202 million of AZN 300 million allocated for the elimination of the results of floods in Kur River were spent for the reconstruction of the flood-damaged houses, social facilities and infrastructures. The process started just after the first floods. â€œThe commission working in this period has analyzed the situation jointly with the representatives of the ministries of Emergency Situations, Economic Development, as well as local authorities and identified the damaged houses and social facilities. The commissionâ€™s opinion was submitted to the President and Mr. President signed an order yesterday and gave instructions to solve remaining issues. The order considers reconstruction and repair of the damaged private houses, infrastructure and social facilitiesâ€.

Heydarov said that he discussed the issues related to the fulfillment of the order with the local executive officials today. Participants of the meeting stressed the necessity to prepare the list of damaged facilities and houses and submit it to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Mentioning the plan of comprehensive measures for the prevention of possible floods in Kur and Araz rivers, the minister underlined the importance of this issue. â€œMany foreign experts were invited to the country after the 2010 floods. We invited the experts of the Dutch company, who are specialists in this field. They analyzed the situation throughout the Kur River and final documents were prepared on the basis of the results of this analysis. A program is being elaborated on the basis of these documents nowâ€.

Heydarov said this program would ensure the safety of Kur and Araz banks and describe effective use of the rivers. â€œGlobal climate changes occur in the world and there is no country that could be insured from the natural disasters. The natural disasters occurred two years ago could repeat again. Therefore safety of basins and water storages throughout the both rivers must be ensuredâ€.
