One of the world's leading aviation forums for the development of international flight networks, "Routes World 2026," is being held in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 21–23, APA-Economics reports. Organized by Routes, the event brings together airlines, airports, and tourism organizations to plan new routes and establish strategic partnerships. Representatives from more than 230 airlines and over 110 countries are participating in this year's forum.
According to information provided to APA-Economics by Heydar Aliyev Airport, Azerbaijan is jointly represented at the forum by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board.
As part of the event, a series of bilateral meetings have been held with international air carriers, attended by Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC Samir Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board Florian Sengstschmid, and the management of Azerbaijan's airports. The discussions focused on opportunities to launch new direct flights from Azerbaijani airports, attract new airlines to the country, and expand cooperation with existing partners.
The business meeting program includes discussions with representatives of Lufthansa Group, AirAsia Group, Air Serbia, Aegean Airlines, Etihad Airways, Transavia France, Malaysia Airlines, easyJet, Jazeera Airways, Oman Air, Wizz Air, and VietJet Air.
The joint participation of Azerbaijan's aviation and tourism organizations in the forum is aimed at linking the development of the international flight network with the promotion of the country's tourism potential. The main goal is to connect Azerbaijan with more international destinations, expand direct flight options for passengers, and support an increase in the flow of foreign tourists to the country.
