Up to 15% of Armenia's population depends on remittances sent from Russia to the country within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) labor market, TASS reports, citing a report by the Eurasian Rating Agency.

The study notes that in 2024–2025, the volume of remittances made by individuals from Russia to Armenia was comparable to the country's trade balance deficit. According to some estimates, up to 15% of Armenia's population depends on these funds.

According to EAEU data, 126,900 Armenian citizens worked in other member countries of the union in 2025. Of these, 124,600 people, or 98.2%, were employed in Russia. The rest worked in Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.

The study notes that the possible suspension of Armenia's membership in the EAEU could have a significant impact on labor migration and remittances to the country. According to estimates, the total volume of remittances from EAEU countries to Armenia could decrease from $3.95 billion in 2025 to $1.85 billion.

Remittances from Russia are projected to fall from $3.878 billion to $1.806 billion.
