Work is underway in Azerbaijan to implement artificial intelligence-based solutions to identify tax risks in advance and prevent possible violations, Acting Head of the Main Department of Tax Risk Management of the State Tax Service Samir Khaligov said at the conference titled "Digital Financial Ecosystem: A New Stage in Governance" held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, a transition is planned in tax risk management from taking measures after violations occur to a preventive approach based on identifying them in advance.
"Our main goal is not to detect violations after they occur, but to identify possible risks in advance and take preventive measures to eliminate them," S. Khaligov said.
He noted that work is underway to introduce artificial intelligence and advanced analytical tools for this purpose. In particular, the use of AI-based analytical tools that ensure automatic data analysis and artificial intelligence technologies in risk assessment models is envisaged.
This approach will allow for a more accurate assessment of the risk levels of taxpayers and tax returns, and enable control measures to be directed toward cases with a high probability of actual risk.
S. Khaligov stated that automatic notification mechanisms are also being used to inform taxpayers in advance about possible risks.
In addition, an electronic field control system has already been launched and is being implemented in pilot mode in one of the regions. Through the system, electronic notifications are sent to taxpayers regarding detected violations, and they are given a certain period to eliminate them.
This allows entrepreneurs to voluntarily eliminate violations before penalties are imposed.
