Eldar Mahmudov: â€œ24 people accused of treason by spying were disclosed by defense security intelligenceâ€

Minister spoke about the achievements reached in the field of counterterrorism. As a result of comprehensive operational measures, two persons, who were declared wanted for their participation in anti-coalition actions in Afghanistan and Pakistan, were detained. About 30 transnational organized criminal groups and individuals engaging in drug trafficking were prevented. 630 kg drug was seized and criminal investigation was launched into 40 facts. 137 people were brought to justice. Transnational organized groups engaging in nuclear smuggling were rendered harmless and smuggling of precious stones and gold, as well as medicines was prevented. As a result of operational measures conducted in 2011, separate organized groups accused of stealing gold from Gadabey Gold-Copper Refinery, as well as hacking and robbing different bank accounts were disclosed. The criminal investigation was launched into 14 facts of forgery, uncontrolled international communication, tax evasion and swindle. The investigation was conducted successfully, said Eldar Mahmudov and added that investigation of 137 criminal facts was already finished.
