Ali Evsen: “I traveled to Egypt after Hosni Mubarak’s overthrowâ€- EXCLUSIVE
Evsen said that he had been in Azerbaijan recently and hadn’t met any problems on the border: “The false charge was made against me in Spain last year. The Spanish law-enforcement bodies carried out investigation on me by the request of Egyptian government. I was accused of corruption. Then it was revealed that I am innocent and the court released me. Hereupon I can go to any country anytime. Now I am in Spain. I left Azerbaijan for Turkey and then came here several days ago. If Interpol issued arrest warrant for me, why I was not detained on my way? I faced very interesting situationâ€.
Ali Evsen noted that he met representatives of Spain law-enforcement agencies and they didn’t inform him about the arrest warrant or other issue: “If it was the case they would arrest me.â€
Businessman also commented the information about his citizenship. He noted that this information is false and he is citizen of just one country – Turkey.
Ali Evsen also commented information related to Egypt’s former President Hosni Mubarak: “I am a businessman. I have commercial relations everywhere and in Egypt as well, but it has no relation to Hosni Mubarak. I visited this country once. I traveled to Egypt after the Mubarak’s overthrow. Let they check and see that when and how many times I went to Egypt. They want to relate me to this case through someone. Now the trial is going on. That’s why I can’t give details. After the trial, I will inform in detailsâ€.
According to the notice, Ali Evsen, 49, is the citizen of three countries – Azerbaijan, Turkey and Albania. He is wanted by Egypt. Ali Evsen is accused of swindling.
Last summer Ali Evsen, former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s close associate Hussein Salemi and his son Halid Salemi were arrested in Spain over the charges of money laundering, bribery and corruption. A month later Ali Evsen was released as he was not found guilty.
