“I first came to Azerbaijan in 1999 together with my wife, Kerry. At that time, Azerbaijan was very different from the country I saw when I returned this year to take on this important role,” British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman said at a press conference today, APA reports.
“In early 2025, while I was learning Azerbaijani, I stayed with a family in Ganja. The patience and generosity of this family, who welcomed me into their home and their lives, taught me as much about this country as I could have learned in any classroom.
“The Azerbaijan I see today is dynamic, modern and connected to the world in a way that would have been difficult even to imagine during my first visit. However, one thing has never changed: the warmth and hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.
“I have arrived in Azerbaijan at a significant moment in these relations. The United Kingdom regards Azerbaijan as an important regional partner, and I am determined to ensure the development of this partnership,” the diplomat noted.
