Speaker: Azerbaijan's economic independence has been strengthened

Azerbaijan’s economic independence has strengthened, said Speaker of the Parliament Sahiba Gafarova during today’s Milli Majlis session while discussing the 2026 budget package, APA reports.

The Speaker noted that this year’s budget discussions coincide with the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty: “The development strategy implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev has contributed to maintaining our country’s macroeconomic stability in recent years. Azerbaijan’s economic independence has also strengthened. The policy of diversifying the economy continues to be successful. Today, a new innovation-based economic model is taking shape in Karabakh and East Zangezur. In conditions of intensifying global challenges, Azerbaijan has ensured the growth of budget revenues and the strengthening of financial reserves. The 2026 budget will focus on goals such as enhancing national security and defense capability, as well as implementing the Great Return.”
