As of October 1, 2025, Azerbaijan’s state debt amounts to 25.4 billion manats, or 19.5% of annual GDP, said Finance Minister Sahil Babayev during the discussion of the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026” at the session of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Committee for Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising, APA reports.
“This is 2.2 percentage points lower compared to the beginning of this year. This indicator is expected to be 21.8% by the end of 2026, and the forecast for 2029 is 21.2%. Azerbaijan is among the 20 countries with the lowest ratio of total public debt to GDP,” the minister emphasized.
