GDP growth in Azerbaijan is expected to reach 2.1% in 2026, said IMF Advisor and Head of the Article IV Mission to Azerbaijan, Anna Bordon, APA-Economics reports.

She noted that this will occur against the backdrop of continued weakness in oil and gas production and some acceleration in the non-oil sector, with growth expected to stabilize at around 2.5% in the medium term.

“Inflation is projected to decline to 5.0% by the end of 2026 and to 4.0% by the end of 2027. The external position will weaken as declining oil production narrows trade surpluses. Nevertheless, the current account balance is expected to remain positive in 2026–27. Risks are broadly balanced, but external uncertainty remains high,” Anna Bordon added.
