The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is assessing the possibility of launching the “Green Economy Financing Facility” (GEFF) program in Azerbaijan, APA-Economics, citing the EBRD.
The program is expected to be approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors on December 3.
Note that GEFF is a five-year project amounting to 100 million USD (approximately 85.6 million euros), aimed at supporting “green financing” through selected local financial institutions (PFIs). The EBRD stated that the allocated funds will be directed toward financing private companies implementing projects in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, efficient use of resources, and climate resilience. The GEFF program will serve as a pilot initiative for the implementation of “green financing” mechanisms in Azerbaijan and will support the country’s transition to sustainable development.
