Problems in the identification process of large and small cattle — which is crucial for monitoring the consumer prices of livestock products and implementing veterinary measures — stem from the lack of result-oriented administration in the livestock sector, APA-Economics reports.
This is reflected in the opinion of the Chamber of Accounts on the draft state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026.
The report notes that audit evidence shows the absence of strategic goals, annual operational plans, and monitoring regulations ensuring internal control over the animal identification process. It also indicates that the relevant targets set under the “State Program on Ensuring Food Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019–2025” are unlikely to be achieved by the end of 2025.
