Central Bank of Azerbaijan strengthens cybersecurity in financial sector

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) and the Electronic Security Service (ESS) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport are strengthening cooperation on information security and cybersecurity in the financial sector, APA-Economics reports, citing the CBA.

It was noted that within the framework of cooperation, the parties will work together to ensure coordinated activities in the field of information security and cybersecurity in the sector, organize relevant measures, as well as implement mutual notification regarding incidents, cyberattacks, and other threats.

Vusal Khalilov, Deputy Chairman of the CBA, stated that the cooperation will contribute to enhancing the cybersecurity and resilience of the financial system. He also emphasized that this initiative is an important step toward closer collaboration in strengthening the security of the national cyber environment.

Farid Zeynalov, head of the ESS, stated that the partnership will play an important role not only in the financial sector but also in strengthening the country’s overall cybersecurity infrastructure. He noted that increasing coordination between the parties will allow cybersecurity measures to be implemented more systematically.

Within the framework of the cooperation, it is also planned to implement awareness-raising initiatives aimed at increasing cybersecurity knowledge among financial sector participants and the general public.
