"In 2025, the surplus of Azerbaijan’s current account of the balance of payments amounted to $3.5 billion. This is 24% lower compared to 2024. In 2024, the country’s current account surplus totaled $4.6 billion," said Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, during a briefing, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the share of the current account in GDP amounted to 4.6%.
He noted that the size of the current account surplus recorded last year is considered positive in terms of macroeconomic stability.
Earlier, during a press conference, Central Bank Chairman Taleh Kazimov stated that Azerbaijan’s current account surplus is expected to reach $3.7 billion by the end of 2025.
