Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov explained the decision regarding the application of income tax starting next year, APA reports.
During the discussion of the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026” at the meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship, the minister said that the income tax exemption period will expire on January 1, 2026.
“Given that the socio-economic goals of the exemption have been largely achieved, and considering the strengthened tax administration to preserve and further enhance the progress made in formalizing the labor market, as well as to ensure favorable conditions for the continuation of the legalization process, it has been proposed to gradually introduce income taxation in the non-oil private sector, while maintaining a lower tax burden for low-income earners,” the minister stated.
