The share of sustainable sources in budget expenditures is increasing, said Finance Minister Sahil Babayev today during the discussion of the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026” at the plenary session of the Milli Majlis, APA reports.

The finance minister stated that reducing the impact of the oil-gas factor on the state budget and increasing the share of sustainable sources in financing expenditures are among the key objectives ahead of us: “In this regard, within the framework of the budget rule being applied, it is envisaged that over the medium term, the ratio of the consolidated budget’s non-oil base deficit to non-oil GDP will be consistently reduced. For next year, the upper limit of the ratio of the consolidated budget’s non-oil base deficit to non-oil GDP is projected at 19 percent, which is 3.4 percentage points lower compared to the current year and is the best indicator since the fiscal rule was introduced. By the end of the medium term — that is, in 2029 — it is envisaged to reduce this ratio to 13 percent and to keep the upper limit of public debt-to-GDP at the current level of 30 percent.

These stated targets, serving the goals of ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability and macroeconomic stability, will create a favorable platform for the implementation of the development agenda facing our country.”
