Azerbaijan announces social insurance subsidies for liberated territories

For 2024, 20 insurers operating in the liberated territories and 933 insured persons were subsidized with social insurance funds amounting to 305.82 thousand manats, APA-Economics reports, citing the opinion of the Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the draft budget of the State Social Protection Fund for 2026.

The opinion noted that in 2024, compared to 2023, the number of insurers in the relevant direction increased by 5 times, the number of insured persons by 3.66 times, and the subsidy on the calculated mandatory state social insurance premium increased by 3.57 times. Based on the performance indicators of the first half of the current year, a total of 87.44 thousand manats of funds calculated for 23 insurers and 327 insured persons operating in the liberated territories under both paragraphs of the relevant article of the Law "On Social Insurance" were subsidized, which is 28.6% of the corresponding indicator of the previous year.

Note that, in accordance with Article 1.4 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 680-VIQD dated December 9, 2022 on Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Social Insurance”, Article 14-1 was added to the Law and it is envisaged that this article will be in force from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2033. According to the newly added Article 14-1.1 to the Law, the relevant part of the mandatory state social insurance premium paid by insurers (insured persons) who do not have activities in the oil and gas fields of the non-state sector operating in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan is subsidized from the state budget.
