The development of capital markets plays an important role in accelerating economic transformation in Azerbaijan, said Enrico Pinali, Head of the Private Sector Development Department for Central and West Asia at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), APA-Economics reports.
According to him, capital markets provide financing for business and infrastructure projects and support economic growth by converting savings into long-term investments.
“When companies raise funds through bonds and capital markets, their reliance on short-term bank financing decreases. This allows them to allocate more resources to growth, innovation, and sustainable development projects,” he noted.
The ADB official emphasized that the Bank supports the development of capital markets by fostering real activity in the market. In this context, the ADB cooperates with companies and financial institutions to help new bond issuers enter the market, participates as an active investor to increase the interest of other investors, and promotes the introduction of innovative financial instruments such as green and sustainable bonds.
In his view, deepening capital markets expands access to long-term financial resources, enhances the stability of the business environment, and contributes to the country’s economic diversification.
