In January–February of this year, 4,346.8 million kWh of electricity was generated in Azerbaijan, which represents a 5.2% decrease in an annual comparison, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the information, 4,212.1 million kWh of the electricity produced in the country during the reporting period accounted for marketable output (a 4.9% decrease).
The largest share of electricity generation in the country — 3,708.2 million kWh — came from thermal power plants, which is 5.9% lower than in January–February 2025.
During January–February of the current year, the remaining electricity generated in Azerbaijan was produced by hydropower plants, as well as other alternative and renewable energy sources.
It should also be noted that during the reporting period, wind power plants in Azerbaijan generated 141.6 million kWh of electricity, which is a 41.6-fold increase in an annual comparison.
