Design work on the development of the full-scale production phase of the Absheron gas field is ongoing, and the project will support gas supplies to both domestic and export markets, said Martina Opizzi, Senior Vice President for Exploration and Production in Europe at TotalEnergies, during the 12th Ministerial Meeting as part of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting as part of the Green Energy Advisory Council held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, the project is being implemented in cooperation with SOCAR and other partners and reflects a synthesis of international experience and regional partnership.
“The second phase of the Absheron field consists of two main components. The first component involves the drilling of three subsea wells and their connection to the shore via approximately 140 kilometers of multiphase subsea pipelines. The second component involves the construction of an onshore processing facility that will ensure gas processing and its export to both domestic and international markets,” Martina Opizzi noted.
She stated that the project is being developed based on low-cost and low-emission principles. The simplification of the design and the application of innovative technologies make it possible to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency.
Martina Opizzi added that the goal of the project is to further strengthen Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable regional gas supplier and to contribute to long-term energy security within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor.
