The condensate to be produced under the second phase of the Absheron gas-condensate field development will be processed using the existing infrastructure of the Shah Deniz project, said Emmanuel de Guillebon, Country Chair of TotalEnergies in Azerbaijan, during the “Upstream Sector – New Horizons” session at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the company has chosen to use existing infrastructure instead of investing in a new processing facility.

“We will not carry out the full processing of the condensate at our own facility. The condensate will be sent to the Shah Deniz terminal for final processing. This creates synergies between the projects and reduces capital expenditures,” he said.

Emmanuel de Guillebon noted that TotalEnergies and bp cooperate in various areas, with the aim of making more efficient use of existing capabilities in the country.

“It makes more sense to use existing facilities at the country level. If the infrastructure of another project already exists, there is no need to build a new facility,” he stressed.

According to him, the company is also considering other technical cooperation opportunities between the Absheron and Shah Deniz projects. This cooperation includes the laying of subsea pipelines and the joint use of existing equipment.
