New steps are being taken to expand the geography of Azerbaijani gas exports, said SOCAR Vice President Vitaliy Baylarbayov during the session titled “Gas Markets: Infrastructure, Strategy and Geopolitics” at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 16 countries, and this number will increase in the near future.
“We currently supply gas to 16 countries. This number will grow. In addition to the new agreement signed in Baku this year, there will be additional contracts, and our export geography will expand,” Vitaliy Baylarbayov said.
According to him, Azerbaijan currently exports oil to more than 37 countries, conducts LNG trading operations, and has also started exporting electricity since the end of 2025.
Vitaliy Baylarbayov stressed that diversification of energy sources, routes, and markets is one of the key elements of energy security.
