Azerbaijan is ready to increase the transit of Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov said, APA-Economics reports citing Interfax-Kazakhstan.
According to the minister, in 2025, Kazakhstan transited 1.2 million tons of oil via BTC, and the Azerbaijani side is ready to increase this figure to 2.2 million tons.
Currently, the BTC pipeline mainly transports oil produced from the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli block in Azerbaijan, as well as condensate from the Shah Deniz field. In addition, other regional crude oil and condensate volumes from the Caspian region (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other volumes produced in Azerbaijan by SOCAR) are also transported via BTC.
The shareholders of BTC Co. are: bp (30.1%), SOCAR (32.97%), MOL (8.90%), TPAO (6.53%), Eni (5%), TotalEnergies (5%), ITOCHU (3.4%), ONGC Videsh (3.1%), ExxonMobil (2.5%) and INPEX (2.5%).
