Georgia’s electricity imports from Azerbaijan sharply decline

In January this year, Georgia imported 4.90 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan, APA’s local bureau reports, citing Georgian State Electrosystem.

Compared to the same period last year, the volume of electricity imports decreased by 29.5 times.

In January, Georgia imported a total of 576.28 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, of which only 0.85% accounted for Azerbaijan’s share. In the same month of 2025, Azerbaijan had met 43.24% of Georgia’s electricity demand.

During the reporting month, Russia was the main electricity supplier to the neighboring country, providing 388.96 million kilowatt-hours (67.49% of total imports). Electricity imports from Armenia and Türkiye amounted to 63.65 million kilowatt-hours and 118.78 million kilowatt-hours, respectively.
