The European Union is interested in deepening cooperation on the green energy corridor that will connect the Caspian Sea with Europe, said Cristina Lobillo Borrero, director of the Task Force for the Energy Platform and International Relations of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission, during the meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, APA-Economics reports.

According to her, the dedicated EU funding allocated under the “Connecting Europe Facility” serves to strengthen interregional energy connectivity, and this project is an important step toward integration between Europe and the South Caucasus.

Cristina Lobillo Borrero emphasized that achieving the EU’s decarbonization, electrification, and energy connectivity targets is possible not only through public policy, but also through strong and sustainable private investment. For this, a transparent, market-based regulatory environment and competitive procurement mechanisms are essential.

She noted that European companies are ready to invest in joint projects with international partners, and that combining resources, technologies, and long-term strategy will make it possible to accelerate green energy projects.
