The European Union plans to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy connectivity, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen said, following meetings held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
The Commissioner noted that Azerbaijan has significant potential in the field of renewable energy and that the planned expansion in this direction creates mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities for EU companies as well.
According to him, energy efficiency and the establishment of broader energy connectivity between the EU and Azerbaijan are also among the priority areas.
Dan Jørgensen stated that the parties agreed to continue the high-level dialogue in the energy sector, and within this framework, a high-level energy dialogue will be held in Brussels by the end of the year.
He added that the participation of numerous high-level representatives in the meetings held in Baku once again demonstrates the prospects of the EU–Azerbaijan energy partnership and mutual trust.
