SOCAR is expanding its investments in our country, Uzbekistan's Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov said during the ministerial-level plenary session held within the framework of the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, Uzbekistan is actively working to attract foreign investment and diversify its partners in the energy sector.
The minister noted that some foreign companies that previously operated mainly as contractors have now started making direct investments in the country.
“Today you heard that SOCAR, together with bp, has begun exploration activities in the territory of Uzbekistan,” J. Mirzamakhmudov emphasized.
He stated that political will, reforms, international cooperation, and investments form the basis of the achievements attained in the energy sector. The minister added that strengthening regional cooperation plays an important role in achieving energy transition goals.
