Energy efficiency a key priority of Azerbaijan’s sustainable development agenda – Energy Ministry official

Energy efficiency is one of the key priorities on the sustainable development agenda of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said Jahid Mikayilov, Head of the Energy Efficiency Department of the Ministry of Energy, during an event held in Nakhchivan related to the “Covenant of Mayors – Eastern Partnership” initiative, APA-Economics reports.

“Local-level actions play an important role in turning this policy into real results. The Covenant of Mayors – Eastern Partnership initiative is an important platform that provides municipalities with implementation mechanisms in the field of energy efficiency. The Ministry of Energy will continue to support local self-government bodies in making effective use of these opportunities,” Jahid Mikayilov noted.

According to him, joining this initiative can support a wide range of energy efficiency measures, such as reducing heating costs in administrative buildings, strengthening thermal insulation, optimizing energy consumption in social facilities, and transitioning to LED lighting systems.
