bp will hand over the operatorship of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline on June 8, Giovanni Cristofoli, bp’s regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye, told journalists, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the operatorship of the Azerbaijani section of the pipeline will be transferred to Azerbaijan, while the Georgian section will be handed over to the Georgian government.
In addition, operatorship of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will be transferred to SOCAR for the respective sections in early June.
Recall that Azerbaijan and Georgia agreed in May this year to resume the operation of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline. The Baku-Supsa export route is designed to transport oil produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block of fields. Commissioned in April 1999, the pipeline is 837 kilometers long and has an annual capacity of more than 7 million tons.
