bp has announced that the deep gas project being implemented at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block could potentially lead to investments worth billions of dollars in the future, APA-Economics reports.
Speaking to journalists, bp's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye, Giovanni Cristofoli, said the company has already brought the first non-associated gas (NAG) production well at ACG into operation.
“Yesterday, we announced the start-up of the first production well under the ACG deep gas project. Another well will be brought online in the near future,” he said.
Cristofoli noted that bp will analyze the production and geological data obtained during the next phase of the project.
“We will then evaluate the data, and this could potentially lead to investments worth billions of dollars. We are talking about developing the gas resources located beneath the ACG reservoirs,” the bp official emphasized.
According to him, successful project results could further increase Azerbaijan’s gas production potential.
It should be noted that ACG is the largest oil field block in Azerbaijan, with bp serving as the operator. The deep gas project is aimed at the commercial evaluation of gas resources located beneath the oil-bearing reservoirs of the field.
