A new subsea infrastructure manufacturing facility is planned to be established in the Caspian region as part of the development of the Karabakh field, said Dan Sparkes, bp's Vice President for Subsurface for the Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye region, during the “Upstream Sector – New Horizons” session at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan not only create new production opportunities but also contribute to the development of the country's technological, industrial, and human capital.

Dan Sparkes stated that the new facility to be created under the Karabakh project will provide additional opportunities for the development of subsea fields in the Caspian Sea.

“A dedicated manufacturing facility for subsea infrastructure will be built as part of the Karabakh project. This will contribute to the creation of new technological capabilities in the Caspian region,” he noted.

According to the bp official, this technology makes it possible to manufacture several pipelines and communication systems as a single integrated structure. Such an approach ensures more efficient connection of subsea fields to existing infrastructure and reduces dependence on specialized pipe-laying vessels.

Dan Sparkes added that the industrial and engineering capabilities developed in Azerbaijan in recent years have created an important foundation for the implementation of new projects.

According to him, each new project helps expand both the country's production capacity and the capabilities of local specialists.

“The capabilities gained through such projects can also be used in the future development of other fields,” the bp official stressed.
