Energy security and green transition plans of Azerbaijan were discussed in Romania, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan told APA.
It was mentioned that in July 2022, Azerbaijan and the European Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a Strategic Partnership in the Field of Energy, thus laid the groundwork for expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor and increase of natural gas supply. It was noted that, since then, intensive relations with Azerbaijan, the European Commission, international financial organizations and with potential buyers in Europe for guaranteed purchase of gas to be delivered through expanded infrastructure are underway to finance the expansion of Southern Gas Corridor.
It was also said that Azerbaijan is determined to realize all its strategic goals related to its development as a green energy country, as well as to contribute to Europe's energy security and green transition and for this purpose, large-scale projects regarding the production and export of renewable energy are implemented. At the same time, an international cooperation platform covering four countries was also launched at the initial stage in the field of green energy.
