Azerbaijan–EU roundtable on “Investment in green connectivity” held in Baku

In parallel with the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council held in Baku, an Azerbaijan–European Union roundtable titled “Investment in Green Connectivity” was organized, APA reports.

The event was attended on behalf of Azerbaijan by Deputy Ministers of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov and Elnur Soltanov, and on behalf of the EU by Cristina Lobillo Borrero, Director for Energy Platform and International Relations at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), and Adrien Király, Director for the Eastern Neighbourhood and Türkiye at the Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST). Discussions focused on connectivity and transmission, renewable energy projects, electricity grids, energy efficiency, and cooperation in energy storage.

The roundtable addressed investment opportunities in Azerbaijan in the fields of energy connectivity, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, as well as identifying areas of EU support in these sectors. Partnership opportunities between Azerbaijani and EU business communities were also assessed.

The roundtable was attended by representatives of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources, the Energy Regulatory Agency, Green Energy Corridor Energy Company (GECO Power Company), Green Corridor Alliance, SOCAR Green, Azərenerji OJSC, Siemens Energy, TotalEnergies, Nobel Energy, ACWA Power, Masdar, ENERCON, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce.
