"The structural transformation of the energy system in the Caspian region has already entered a new stage. In the region, traditional gas infrastructure is being preserved while green energy corridors are also being formed," Sunniya Durani, Country Director for Azerbaijan at the Asian Development Bank, said at the meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, APA reports.
She also specifically noted the growing potential in the field of renewable energy in the Caspian region. Alongside large-scale solar projects, she stated that work is being carried out to develop offshore wind energy opportunities in the Caspian basin:
“The ADB is currently actively supporting the advancement of offshore wind energy projects, the interconnection of regional transmission lines, and the digitalization of grids. Our bank is ready to remain a reliable and long-term partner in the energy transition process,” the bank’s representative said.
According to her, investments should be aimed at both maintaining existing energy stability and creating conditions for future decarbonization.
