“Oil transit from Azerbaijan was halted after a key railway bridge near the Kaspi area of Georgia was blown up two days ago. There is a railroad in parallel to the way through the exploded bridge. We expect oil delivery to Georgian ports may be carried out through this alternative railroad however it is a one-way railway,” he added.
A key railway bridge 45km west of the capital Tbilisi was blown up on August 16. Georgia accused Russian troops of blowing up a key railway bridge while Russia’s General Staff denied carrying out the bridge attack, declaring that hostilities that flared nine days ago around South Ossetia were, as far as it was concerned, over.
