Elton Guliyev: Only Haji Mammadov knows why Elchin Aliyev was held hostage

The lawyer to the defendant Nishad Ismayiolov Kamandar Nasibov made a defence speech. He said that the accusations of Ismayilov were not proved in the court.
â€œDuring the trial it was proved that he was not the member of any gang and did not take part in the crimes. I believe that the court will base on the confirmed proofs when making verdict and bring acquittal about him,â€? he said.
Elton Guliyev the lawyer to Elchin Aliyev, former deputy chief of BUSbank Managing Staff made a defense speech and asked the court to bring acquittal about him.
â€œThe trial was held observing the articles of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This trial is satisfactory, taking into account the current state of Azerbaijani courts. There is no reliable proof against Elchin Aliyev in the materials of the criminal case. While making decision one should not be based on proofs presented by the prosecution, but on the other facts. Elchin is innocent. Only Haji Mammadov knows why Elchin Aliyev was held hostage,â€? he said.
Samad Panahov the lawyer to the defendant Mehman Hasanov in his defense speech said that he does not believe in the courtâ€™s justice.
â€œThe judges in this court are very literate, but not just. I do not know any just judge in Azerbaijan. I have never seen such a one-sided and incomplete trial,â€? he said.
The lawyer said that the accusations of Mehman Hasanov were unfounded and asked the court to bring acquittal about him. He said that Mehman did not take part in the kidnapping of Yalukhan Iluyev, the director of Leather plant.
â€œIf Mehman had not come to Garabulag on March 10, 2005 and said he was Hajiâ€™s friend, he would not have been arrested,â€? he said.
After the defense speeches judge Ali Seyfaliyev raised the solicitation of Adil Ismayilov about renewal of the investigation to discussion. The panel of judges declined the solicitation.
Adil Ismayilov in his speech stressed that Zakir Nasirov is innocent and he will try to prove it.
