The Diasporas told APA’s correspondent that Armenian officials and Patriarch Garegin II will attend the opening ceremony of a so called monument to the victims of the Armenian genocide in the heart of Boston on September 9th. The monument is made in the form of 12-sided prism, each side of which has the names of a few Turkish towns cited as Armenian one.

The Turkish and Azerbaijani Diasporas said they are holding protest actions and appeal to the city’s authorities and the state authorities.

“We are scheduling meetings with the Boston administration, Massachusetts administration, the Senator and the central government in Washington DC. This must be stopped, as it’s not accepted. They killed thousands and thousands Azerbaijanis and never were punished for that and now they open a monument to a fake thing”, - said Sayid Gasymov, a representative of the Azerbaijani Diaspora.

“The Armenian Diaspora can’t go on doing this like this, we’ll protest this. And why do they write the names of our towns on this so called monument? This is shameless”, said Mehmet Artuk. He reminded that Armenians are also planning to open a Museum to the genocide. “All these steps kill the last attempts to set peace between our nations”, he added.

Another Turkish Diaspora representative, Ibrakhim Shukur said that just recently the state of Massachusetts government ruled out any chance to ban the “Armenian genocide” issue from the history text books. “This shows that the government of this state is bias, we’ll bring that to the attention of the government”, he said.
