"During the occupation, our 56,000-hectare forest fund was destroyed by the enemy. It is very crucial to restore this fund in a sustainable manner," Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Garabagh Economic Region (except Shusha district), told journalists, APA reports.
He noted that in many cities, villages and towns that were liberated from occupation, many environmental problems are encountered when reconstruction works are underway.
“Apart from that, it is very important to restore numerous kahrizs (underground water-supplies), which are considered historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan.”
