Soviet-era literature claimed that the states of Albania and Atropatene emerged at the same time, but this claim does not reflect the truth, Doctor of Historical Sciences Hasan Hasanov said at a seminar titled "A Historical Perspective on the Heritage of Caucasian Albania," held at the initiative of the Media and Publishing Council, APA reports.
He stated that between the 7th and 1st centuries BC and thereafter, the Albanians separated from Atropatene for certain reasons and gained independence.
Emphasizing that Albania originated from Atropatene, Hasan Hasanov said that the word "Alban" itself is of Turkic origin and means "hero."
The historian noted that prominent architect and historian Davud Akhundov had studied all Albanian temples: "His conclusion was that all monuments located in the territory of Albania are products of Albanian civilization. In many cases, conclusions have even been reached regarding the connection of these monuments with Turkic traditions. Unfortunately, there are many cases of Armenian falsification of Albanian temples."
Hasan Hasanov emphasized that the history of Azerbaijanis is more substantiated than that of Armenians: "We have sources that Armenians do not have. Armenians have fabricated their own history and convinced both themselves and the world of it. We, however, have our history and sources. But we cannot convince either ourselves or the world."
