The third International Khankendi Ultramarathon concluded on October 11, with 97 athletes from six countries taking part, Apasport.az reports.
Participants covered 192 kilometres over four days. The race comprised four stages: Gabala–Agdash (52.5 km), Agdash–Barda (63.5 km), Barda–Aghdam (46.8 km) and Aghdam–Khankendi (29.2 km). Winners of each stage received separate awards.
Georgia’s David Kharazishvili won the final stage and topped the overall men’s standings. Lithuania’s Andrey Egorov finished second, followed by Azerbaijan’s Elshad Nasibov.
Ukraine’s Olena Shevchenko won the final stage and secured first place overall in the women’s competition. Russia’s Leyla Abdinova placed second, while Azerbaijan’s Natalya Vallek finished third.
Kharazishvili and Shevchenko won all four stages in their respective categories.
The ultramarathon aims to promote healthy lifestyles and running, while showcasing Azerbaijan’s regions through sport.
The inaugural Khankendi Ultramarathon took place in 2024 along the Khankendi–Baku route, with 64 athletes from four countries covering 380 kilometres. The 2025 edition followed the Gabala–Khankendi route and attracted 81 athletes from six countries.
