An international scientific and practical conference dedicated to Sheikh Seyyid Yahya Bakuvi Shirvani was held in the city of Aghdam as part of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), APA’s Garabagh bureau reports.
The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played at the event.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, stated that more than 67 mosques and temples had been destroyed in Garabagh during the occupation.
He also noted that the Aghdam Juma Mosque had been subjected to vandalism.
Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend districts, spoke about the restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in Aghdam.
Other speakers emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the region, as well as the restoration of religious heritage in the liberated territories.
Following the conference, participants performed prayers at the Aghdam Juma Mosque and then visited the Alley of Martyrs.
It should be noted that the conference participants will visit the cities of Khojaly and Shusha in the afternoon.
