Deputy minister: Cooperation with German company on expansion of Port of Baku under discussion

International partners are showing great interest in the next stage, including the expansion of the Port of Baku, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov said during a panel discussion held as part of the “German-Azerbaijani Strategic Partnership and Connectivity Conference 2026,” APA-Economics reports.

“I am pleased to say that a cooperation model is also being discussed with a German company. This brings me to the second point for our German and European partners. Currently, the majority of containers are transported in only one direction – from east to west. However, for the corridor to reach its full potential, there needs to be cargo flow in both directions. As one of the world’s leading exporters, Germany can make an important difference here. We would be pleased to see German companies involved in the next stage of the Middle Corridor as cargo owners, logistics operators, technology providers and investors,” he emphasized.
