Significant investments made in transport and logistics infrastructure in recent years, including the Alat International Sea Trade Port and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, have increased the corridor’s capacity, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said during his speech at the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
The minister also emphasized that Azerbaijan is one of the key transport and logistics hubs between Europe and Asia along the Middle Corridor.
Parviz Shahbazov also described digital transformation as one of the promising areas of cooperation. According to him, there is significant potential for joint initiatives in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data centers and human capital development. A separate roadmap is planned to be developed in these areas, along with the implementation of joint academic programs with leading UK universities.
The minister added that cooperation is also expanding in agriculture, food security, education, culture and tourism.
Parviz Shahbazov said that the signing of four agreements and memorandums in various areas, including green energy and transport connectivity and urban mobility, within the framework of the meeting demonstrates that political dialogue is being translated into concrete projects.
The minister said that the Action Plan for 2026–2027 covers more than 60 measures across 10 areas.
“Our main task is to turn our agreements into concrete results and our shared potential into new projects,” Parviz Shahbazov emphasized.
