Azerbaijan marks State Sovereignty Day, APA reports.
Under an order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 19, 2024, September 20 is annually observed as State Sovereignty Day in Azerbaijan.
On September 19, 2023, an anti-terror operation was launched in Azerbaijan's Karabakh economic region to prevent large-scale provocations, disarm and remove the remnants of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijani territories, and restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan in those territories.
The operation, which lasted just 23 hours and concluded on September 20, saw the valiant Azerbaijani Armed Forces complete all assigned tasks with high professionalism. As a result of this decisive victory, the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan was fully restored.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, State Sovereignty Day will be considered a working holiday for now.
