The lower house of the Dutch parliament will vote on a proposal to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) and expel the court from the country, Geert Wilders, leader of the far-right Party for Freedom (PVV), said in a post on X on Friday, APA reports.
Wilders noted that the vote will take place on Tuesday, October 13. "Netherlands out of the ICC. And the ICC out of the Netherlands! Get lost with that gang," he wrote.
On the other hand, Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen promised that the Netherlands, which hosts the ICC, will continue supporting the court and help ensure its continued operations after the United States imposed sanctions against the court. "The announced sanctions against the International Criminal Court are an undesirable new escalation. I deeply regret this new step," the minister said.
