Ukraine has announced that it has effectively begun closing the airspace over Russian territory, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine said, according to UNIAN, APA reports.
A post made on his behalf on the Ukraine Context Telegram channel, which is associated with Budanov, noted that the process had been started somewhat late.
It should be recalled that on September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned international airlines and insurance companies using Russian airspace. He said that, taking into account the activity of unmanned aerial vehicles over Russia, that airspace is becoming dangerous for civil aviation.
Zelenskyy said that Russia’s airspace would effectively be closed and called on international airlines and insurers to take the risks into account.
